I know the first day of fall was technically a little over a week ago, but for me, fall officially starts today. October and fall weather just go hand in hand, don’t you think? Like, October starts the holiday season (and by that, I mean Halloween) to me. I love this time of year because as the temperatures drop, the leaves are changing and pumpkin-spiced everything is deemed acceptable once again.
Speaking of those cool weather days headed our way, I just love layering right now with my favorite jackets. They’re not only functional in that they keep you warm, but they also serve a great purpose in making old pieces feel fresh again. Take your favorite sundress or a casual t-shirt and instantly, it’s dressed up with a jacket. That’s why today, I wanted to do a roundup of the 5 jackets you need for fall.
DENIM
Of course, we have kicked off this list with the most iconic style, the denim jacket. There are a million ways to style a denim jacket this season. The rule is: there are no rules! So invest in a few different washes and fits and have fun with them.
UTILITY
I always say that this green utility jacket I picked up at J.Crew a couple years ago was one of the best investments ever. Not only do I just love the color gree, but this jacket looks a bit more casual and unexpected then it’s denim cousin.
RAINCOAT
We deal with rain year-round, but having a great raincoat in the fall keeps you warm and dry! This pink one is so fun, but I also love the iconic look of a bold yellow raincoat. Pair this with your Hunter boots and you’re ready for whatever rain comes your way.
LEATHER
The definition of being an ‘it girl’ can be summed up with a great leather jacket. Every outfit is instantly more badass when you throw it on. I like to scrunch up the sleeves so it feels a bit less structured and effortless. The best part is that you can find a great faux version for under $100.
TRENCH COAT
If there is one piece you need to shop after reading this post, make sure it’s a trench coat. I live in this one, especially in the fall. It’s so chic and simple and there’s a reason it’s a classic. You can find great trench coats just about anywhere right now, but this one from Abercrombie is my favorite!
